When you visit our website
Our website does not require an account. Our hosting provider may process basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser details and server-log information, to deliver and secure the site. We rely on our legitimate interests in operating a reliable and secure website.
We use Google Fonts to display the site’s typeface. Google may receive limited technical information from your browser when the font is loaded. We use this only to present the website properly.
Links to Instagram, TikTok, Uber Eats, Google Maps and Google Reviews are ordinary links. Those services do not load automatically from our pages; their own privacy policies apply after you choose to open one.
Cookies and phone storage
Moonies does not currently use optional analytics, advertising, social-media tracking or personalisation cookies on the public website. We therefore do not show a cookie-consent pop-up for the site as it is today.
When you choose to use Moonies Passport, we use the following necessary or user-requested device storage to make that service work:
moonies_staff: a first-party session cookie that helps protect Passport forms from misuse and supports secure staff access. It ends when the browser session ends.moonies-live-passport-token: browser storage that remembers the random link needed to reopen your Passport on that device. It remains until you choose “This isn’t my passport” or clear your browser data.moonies-google-wallet-[customer ID]: browser storage set only after you choose to add a pass to Google Wallet, so the Passport can show the appropriate wallet action. It remains until you clear browser data.moonies-passport-v6: an app cache for Passport files, helping the Passport load reliably. It contains no Passport or API responses and is replaced when the app updates.
We do not use this storage to follow you across websites or show advertising. If we introduce optional analytics or marketing technology in future, we will update this notice and ask for your choice before it is used.
Information used for Moonies Passport
- Your first name and an email address or mobile number, so we can create and recover your Passport.
- Your Passport ID, short code, random Passport link, stamp balance, rewards and loyalty activity.
- Your optional choice about receiving Moonies offers.
- Wallet information if you choose to add your pass to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. This can include your display name, loyalty details, a QR code containing your secure Passport link and, for Apple Wallet, device-registration and push-notification details.
Why we use Passport information
- Providing the Passport: to create and recover your pass, record stamps, and issue or redeem rewards you request.
- Security and administration: to prevent misuse, resolve problems and protect the integrity of the programme. This is in our legitimate interests.
- Marketing: to send Moonies offers only when you actively opt in. This is based on your consent and does not affect your stamps or rewards.
- Wallet passes: to add and operate a pass only when you choose Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
Who receives information
Authorised Moonies team members can access Passport details when helping you in store. Our website, database and technical providers process information for us so the service can run. If you choose to add a pass to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, Apple or Google will process the pass information under their own privacy terms. Your email address and mobile number are not put inside your customer QR code.
Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we use providers and safeguards intended to provide the protection required by UK data-protection law. We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep website technical information only for as long as needed to operate and secure the website. We keep Passport details while you use the programme and afterwards only for as long as needed to restore your Passport, answer questions, prevent fraud, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. We then delete or anonymise them. We may keep a record of a marketing opt-in or withdrawal for as long as needed to respect and demonstrate your choice.
Your choices and rights
You may ask for a copy of your information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or object to its use where UK data-protection law provides those rights. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time by messaging @mooniesbubbletea or telling a Moonies team member. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office through ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page before making a material change to how we use personal information or before introducing optional cookies or tracking.
